KINETIC PUNCHES MEASURED BY SCIENCE

Im busy racking up the numbers and with solid science comes solid facts...Cant thank you enough Kevin Franklin and Jon Ryley

Looks like I had it pretty close myself 30 to 40% more power on the Kinetic punches
KINETIC PUNCHES MEASURED BY SCIENCE AND THE STRIKEMATE
25/10/2014 click on it for close up

These first three show the level of power increased comparing a standard MMA punch with a Kinetic MMA punch
Overhand Hook comparison
my standard overhand at 95kg is 30,000= 315cu per pound
my kinetic overhand punch at 95kg is 43000 = 453 cu per pound
That means the kinetic overhand hook is 30.55% harder than the standard overhand hook
Straight Punch comparison
My standard boxing straight punch was 14361 at 95 kilo that's 151cu
My straight kinetic punch highest was 23,800 at 95 kilo that's 250 cu
Meaning my kinetic straight punch is 40% harder than my standard straight punch
Ground and pound straight punch comparison
Kneeling to ground Standard straight boxing punch 6385cu
Kneeling to ground kinetic straight punch 9816cu
that’s 35% harder than the standard  straight punch

Stood to ground standard straight boxing punch 9966cu
Stood to ground straight kinetic punch 21144cu
that’s 53% harder than the standard straight ground punch
Shockwaves comparison
Now were going to look at Shockwaves which are added to the end on the punch for added explosiveness/power. With the same kinetic cross punch with different shockwaves placed on the end of the strike

Light snapping shockwave =15991cu
Deep snapping shockwave=22506cu
that means the Deep snap is 30% more explosive than the light snap
The Ripping shockwave, the most powerful=37524cu
that's 40% more explosive than the deep shockwave

UFC fighter Uriah hall holds the hook record for the strikemate
At approx 90kg his hook is 86,000cu that’s around 955cu per kilo of bodyweight with a standard MMA punch and a deep snapping shockwave
Using the strikemate measurements with the kinetic hook and deep shockwave, Hypothetically  that's 30% more power that means Uriah could be hitting at a magical 111800cu
Now to make this more interesting instead of the Deep shockwave, if he was using the ripping shockwave that's 40% harder
That's  a Hypothetical  increase of 156520cu!!

Uriah hall Eddie hall and there record hook punches on the strike mate

Eddie hall is approx 170kg his hook is 57919cu. he’s hitting at approx 340cu per kilo
Uriah hall approx 90kg his hook is 86,000cu that’s around 955cu per kilo of bodyweight
Lets play around with this to compare the efficiency of Eddie and Uriah’s kinetic chain if Eddie hall was half his weight 85kg half the score that’s 28959 at 5 kg less than Uriah and literally a 3rd of Uriah’s score
If Uriah was double his weight at 180kg double his score that’s 172,000 cu! Nearly triple Eddies score at only ten kilo more, this tells me that Uriah’s  punch is significant more efficient, Uriah’s known for his natural athleticism and it shines through in this clip

so far one of the best examples of a boxing hook I've seen so far on the strikemate. The elbow snaps up as he lands digging in the middle knuckle with the outside of his middle knuckle landing right on the cross in the middle the target. He also finishes the punch with an excellent deep snapping shockwave More on shockwaves here

strikemake, backhands and the efficiency of the kinetic chain part 1

Kinetic chain efficiency
Part one
I’ve been thinking about the strikemate and how we can get an overall measurement. Big people will always hit harder but not necessarily more efficiently. Women have less muscle than men there’s lots of differences. But The beauty of have a constant device like the strikemate is solid precise measurements. So by having a little play round with back hand strike measurements by dividing the cu measurement and weight of the person in kg we get a number of cu developed per kilo...roughly using two clips we have
Sharon is approx 55kg hitting at 18280 that around 332 cu per kilo
Mickey is approx 95kg hitting at 53909 that’s around 567 cu per kilo
Just for arguments sake, and to make things easier if we say Sharon is 50kg and Mickey is 100Kg that’s double the weight, so even though mikeys number is high,
If we double what Sharon was getting that’s 664 cu per kilo if she weighed 100kg
If we then half mikeys that’s 280 cu per kilo if he weighed 50Kg
Houston we have a problem women are more efficient! Now what that really comes down to is the efficiency of her kinetic chain, so if you’re looking to improve your back fist then id sugest its Sharon you should be watching and mimicking. This suggests that If Mickey matched the same technique Sharon was doing he would be hitting even harder.
Note Mickey has hit harder but I thought we would use what’s on film
Kevin Franklin back fist is hitting at 40,000k at 95kg which mean he getting around 421cu per kilo of body weight
Hooks
Eddie hall Britain’s strongest man weighs in at 27stone that’s 170kg his hook is 57919cu. he’s hitting at approx 340cu per kilo
Uriah hall recently hit over 86,000cu with a hook he’s a welterweight so let’s say he’s 200lb that’s about 90kilo which means he’s hitting at a sublime 955cu per kilo of bodyweight now.
It was a boxing punch so its unsupported.if he was using the kinetic punch there would be an instant step up in power, but for measurements well have to wait till the end of the month!

And for kicks!
Febricio Werdum kicked 126,000cu with a switch kick weighing at 105kilo that kicking at 1200cu per kilo of body weight serious power let’s hope Cain Velasquez is ready for them! I recon it’s going to be his toughest test yet this is the guy that broke the unbreakable Fedor.

unsupported punching and the supported kinetic punch

Heres a very nice example of a boxing style MMA punch, you can see how the hes hitting with the outside part of the middle knuckle.this is an unsupported punch the forearm isnt directly behind it to drive it in,this brteaks the kinetic chain at the shoulder and forearm, losing a significant amout of power
patricky freire punch gif

you can see here in this pic of the gif were the point of the knuckle is landing on the outside three knuckles, this breaks the kinetic chain and is unsupported by the forearm, and what I would call an unsupported or clasic boxing punch.

for a supported or Kinetic punch, you have to use the inside of the middle knuckle, this part of the knuckle is unavailable in boxing gloves but is in MMA gloves, which means it cant be practiced in standard boxing gloves.but is a significant step up in power for MMA
