The hips make a huge difference in the power you generate with a kick.as you step in (rule one) you should be cocking the hips in the opposite direction of your kick,the more supple the hips, the further back you can cock them,but also the further you can drive the hips over to send the kick in as you land this makes a significant difference in the weight and power of your kick.the harder the kicker the more supple the hips and they can really fold it over and drive the leg bone into the opponent at ninty degrees,the more you turn it over as you land the more you will get a ripping shockwave on the kick.its no different kicking high or low this is a very good evercise for loosening the hips
bukaw hips fold over at least 4 to 6 inches more than most mma fighters giving extra weight and power in his kicks,driving the hips in first then letting the leg go at the last minute
