I’m Getting some good feedback from the lads at hustle gym in wrexham, Nathan Edwards and his brother Macaulay have been the two fighters that have really taken it in so far, what I like about Nathan is he’ll go into detail About how he’s used the kinetic striking in training through the week and when I show him something, he’ll say “I could use that in the clinch, here” and run through certain positions, this helps me out loads when it comes down to refining what I’m teaching specifically for MMA. I’m used to teaching some basic ground positions for self defence, but when you’re in the full mount of a trained fighter, it’s like you’ve grown an extra limb, like a good fitting belt! Larry Hartsell used to say "theres no gaps in grappling" I had visions of bucking furiously to exhaustion trying to get him off me...I’d have no chance
part one shows you how to line up your body correctly to land a kinetic punch ,it shows you how to use a slightly different trajectory in the punch that allows for you to line up the body 100% kinetically,giving you the strongest and most efficient positions.these punches can not be trained in boxing and muay thai gloves,this punch was designed specifically for the MMA gloves and the mechanics are different. and also up to 40% harder than the standard MMA punch or boxing, muay thai punch,you will be hitting significantly harder than you ever have for mma
I gave him a copy of my DVD “ADVANCED KINETIC CHAIN PUNCHING FOR PROFESSIONAL MMA PART 1 THE KINETIC PUNCH” to see what he thought.
He said “I found it interesting about lining up the arm with the elbow and the power ark, because it’s different from boxing and it’s driving the punch in, good for close distance and goes well with boxing”
He also mentioned how it’s good for when you’re tired, as it uses less energy.
the biggest difference with a kinetic punch and the standard MMA punch is the part of the knuckles you land with, you can’t throw or learn the punch in boxing gloves, it designed specifically for the MMA glove, this allows you to line up the knuckles and the elbow and finish the strike with the shoulder, rather than finishing the strike with the triceps and the outside three knuckles like you would in bigger gloves.
The other part that completes the kinetic punch is the type of snap or shock that you can train on the end of any punch for a more concussive effect, Boxing, Thai or the kinetic punch there’s a choice of 4 types, the light snap, deep snap, the ripper, and the kinetic chop which is a mix of the first three and the most powerful, these can be trained on the end of your punches, hammer fists, elbows, knees etc improving your precision and impact.
What Nathan really sends home is the importance of training across the board which may seem obvious for MMA, with Boxing and Muay Thai being the main stay for striking at the Hustle Gym like any MMA gym, I’m glad that he’s realising the benefit of adding the Kinetic striking to his training. And that it can only improve his individual MMA. His 3rd fights in less than a few weeks come on TEAM HUSTLE!

It's nice to see someone who actually knows what there on about instead of some if the utter shit I get sent! My boxing coach shows me another punch where as you throw (straight right) turn knuckles down at a very slight angle and use the gravity. It's now my favourite punch it does horrific damage. Where are you based? "
