Advanced kinetic chain punching for MMA PART 3 DRILLS FOR PERFECTION

Advanced kinetic chain punching for MMA PART 3 DRILLS FOR PERFECTION

Now you know the strongest positions to throw a punch and the shockwaves it time to perfect them. on this 3rd DVD I explain how to refine and perfect the kinetic punch, train specific isometrics to reinforce the strength of your arms, so your punch feels more like a poke from an iron bar, using doorways and elastic bands, I also run through the positions to allow you to punch much closer and from a tight guard, then it’s time to break down the shockwaves even more and isolate some of the most important parts of the shockwave, starting with the light shockwave which is the core of your speed training, and the pullback, singly one of the most important parts to isolate and train, this along with the switch lifts all your striking across the board. Then a closer look at the deep snap an explosive power house 30% more power than the light snap, and how to develop a guard smashing shock with the sand bag, through to the Ripping shockwave 70% harder than the light shockwave, and 40% harder than the Deep shockwave, its designed purely for damage, I explain how it twists and rotates the head, and the best angle to drop in from, if your looking for a cut or the ultimate one shot KO.

shockwaves in more detail

Shockwaves part two
There’s basically 3 ways to develop explosiveness in your punches, regardless of style, but it’s not just the impact, it’s the lack of energy used, speed and the precision that’s developed that can’t be underestimated
The important thing to remember about shockwaves can take time to develop it’s all about tendon strength and muscle memory, but 12 months down the line expect a significant difference in the energy you use to throw the punch and the effect you have when it lands.
The light shockwave
The light shockwave is all about speed, it’s the fastest way to punch, significantly improving your speed and the snap of impact, like a boxers snap, there’s also lots of reverse mechanics, picked up and improved, the better you can do this the faster and sharper you will punch, your bodyweight pops in and out, like all shockwaves there part of one movement. The punch doesn’t finish on the person it finishes back in your guard or in a kinetic position to throw another
Deep shockwave
The deep shockwave is the power version of the light, more bodyweight and a 30% step up in power compared to the light snap, perfect for those body punches drilling the strike right in, it’s also much more concussive, the snap is deeper staying on target a little longer than the light, transferring more power very explosive from the straight or cross, digs in really well, perfect this and its the ideal tool for smashing through anybody’s guard
Ripping shockwave
With the ripping shockwave as well as being the strongest, 40% harder than the deep snap and 70% harder than the light snap, its designed for the one shot KO, with strikes to the head there is several ways to get the knockout,
1 shakes the brain. If you cause enough concussion you will achieve a KO
2 rotate the head. if you cause the head to turn and rotate suddenly this will increase the concussion of the strike, twisting and rotating the head at  45% significantly increasing the chances of the KO
3 over extending the head or neck from the spine. When you over extending the head from the neck this alone can cause a KO, if the head snaps back hard enough, or is twisted round hard enough, this can cause an instant KO
4 Pain when the body feels a massive amount of pain it will shut down black out, this will also increase the chances of a KO
The ripping shockwave is designed to achieve all this, and puts 70% more power on your punch than the standard boxing snap; it dramatically increases the chance of a stun or stoppage. With the development of the “Ripper” Came the name. I had to start wearing small gloves because on a lot of bags designed for gloves it would grab and rip my skin tearing my bare knuckles. That translates to the opposite happening when you hit flesh or have MMA gloves on giving more chance of a cut or Rip happening,
With the Ripper the ultimate is to achieve this with all punches for the maximum effect, the more familiar and natural they feel the more other angles and power levels become available to the fighter, I really can’t underestimate the value of the shockwaves, the shockwaves are the second part of the kinetic punch. They play the biggest part in your explosive punching
When we take a look at the jab, the ripping shockwave has 70% more power than the light snap on the end of a jab! over a 5 minute round with a light snap at say 10,000cu 20 jabs=200,000cu a round
With the ripping shockwave that’s 17000cu per punch 20 jabs=340000 a round

To the fighter that’s 41% more available power/damage per round in there jab than a standard boxing snap, over 3 rounds that 123% more available power using the ripping shockwave on the jab, instead of the standard boxing snap, more than double the power available in the standard jab over 3 rounds

MMA rounds and the percentages power available in the kinetic punch compared to standarded

MMA rounds and the percentages the kinetic punch
Thanks to the strikemate measurements, if I look at the differences in standard punches compared to a kinetic punch, the kinetic punch has 30%-50% more power. If we take a 5min UFC round and the kinetic punch v boxing punches. looking at the available power/damage with each style, It’s far from being this simple but Breaking it down, if in one minute you land 5 punches that’s 25 punches per 5 min round .if we put the standard punches at 20,000cu x 25 that’s.
 500000cu in one round
The kinetic straight punch has measured 40% more power and the hook at 30% more power than standard. so for this I’ll put the kinetic punches at 35% more power and again 25 punches per 5 min 27,000cu x25 that’s.
675000cu in one round
For the fighter than means 35% more available power/damage dished out per round, over 3 rounds that literally gives you 105% percent more available power, that’s more than double the available power you would get from 3 rounds using standard boxing for MMA. To match the available energy in the kinetic punch, you would need 4 rounds of standard punching. That fact cannot be ignored

Over A 5 round main event the kinetic punch gives you a 175% increase in available power compared to the standard mma punch.

strikemate a review

Strikemate a review
As a person with a passion for hand strikes really can’t begin to tell you the value of a constant measuring tool for striking, the idea of having something that is as good as a trainer at picking up the subtlety’s of a good punch, with me its sound and feel and I have spent good money on items that were supposed to measure your power the consistency was terrible, so when I heard about the strikemate I was interested but had heard it all before..
So I've tried it, and I have to tell you it’s Very very good, a Serious scientific bit of kit, to finally have a tool that can constantly measure the power strike is great, and when I look at some of the film when I’m striking it. I can see or hear the strike was less or more and the strikemate picked up on this, like Kevin  Franklin said, it’s at a detail above and beyond what any person could measure, the surface is very nice to hit, even bare knuckle. Though I've never been a fan of the foam used, in many ways I think it’s perfect the job though a little stiff, when you hold this sort of pad against you there’s very little direct energy lost and it transfers energy well, basically hurts more, when you hold it against your chest unlike a soft pad, because of the stiffness of the pad there’s energy fired back at you as well, it spits the hand of instantly which it should. So I’m saying it’s an ideal bit of kit for anybody who’s interested in striking for sports/martial arts and why every top gym in the country hasn’t got one is beyond me? Time to break the cycle of repetition with striking and get some science behind it, and the gyms who have across the world are already benefiting massively, so form an orderly line guys this really is a must tool, to test and perfect the power of your kicks and punches, if you think about it for solo training, it’s like having a coach 24/7 to tell straight away if an tweak here or there makes a difference in your power!
So while nothings perfect and I’m a fussy git, I want to talk about what the strikemate doesn’t measure and its limitations, but please don’t take this as a criticism, it’s  just that  power and impact are so complicated to understand,  never mind  measure. So to me there two parts of a strike, the power generation and then  the impact on the end. So I doesn’t measure initial or surface impact, I noticed when I tried a palm heel  hook a score of 12000 when the same core mechanics with  a hook punch was high 43000,now I know that the smaller area has more force but, with the open hand there is a massive amount of initial surface impact, this isn’t picked up on the strikemate, that in turn tells me that when the punch lands it’s not measuring that initial impact either and to me this is when it’s at its peak power, so to get a full reading you would have to measure the initial impact on the end of the strike x the power built, the strike mate is really spot on for the power measurement, and because of this, when I tried the different shockwaves at full power  it picked up on the differences in overall power, because the increased initial impact lifted the overall power, but if I tried the shockwaves lightly which would still hurt human, there was very little measurement. it’s great for kicks punches elbows sharp strikes, but its not good for the more concussive strikes like palm heels and hooks ,slaps or finger strikes
I would say don’t change anything about the strikemate it’s a great bit of kit, the power trainer which I initially compared to my water bag, is really very different as a standalone pad I think it’s just the job for power development but very similar to a hard heavy bag in many ways, but with the give not as hard on the arms or body, but once you add a measurement its a whole new level. And from what i can tell the power trainer is fully upgradeable. The water bag is all about learning the speed snap or impact in many ways completing the two parts of the striking puzzle.
I can’t help thinking Kevin how good the power trainer would be with an impactometer? Something that measures surface impact alone x that with the strikemate measurement job done......if only it was that easy..Something to think about?
Great work.
