"What can I say about your Dvd? Very impressed. Yet another highly instructive Dvd in your ongoing series and a very important one for anyone studying the martial arts or self-defense. It literally covers everything that anyone could need from Novice to Advanced practitioner. Great detail has been provided in systematically teaching the correct structure of the palm hook for maximum power delivery and how to ensure that your striking structure is correct so that the wrist is protected and injuries avoided. Nothing worse than striking an attacker and it ends up hurting you more than it hurts him! LOL.
There were certain parts of your DVD that really caught my attention like the Den Dan Daiko, this drill in itself, in my opinion was worth the price of your DVD. It teaches so much, from the ability to strike within a closed quarter environment, how to transfer/shift bodyweight correctly, continuous striking, how to relax the body for the most impact and more. There are keys within this drill that would help anyone that trains to increase the power of their strikes and improve the flow/speed of their movements. I literally can’t emphasize enough how important I believe this drill to be and you have broken it down in your usual clear, concise way that leaves no ambiguity or unanswered questions.
It’s a great learning experience to first watch you demonstrate a strike and how it should be done and then taking complete beginner and watching them learn, improve, and point out what mistakes they are making (we could be making) so that they are doing it correctly. The mistakes made by the beginners are the mistakes we probably would all make while training so to watch these corrections and how to fix mistakes that are being made are of great benefit to anyone training on their own.
There’s such a wealth of information on your Dvd from the different striking energies to the practice drills, body structure, intention training etc. that it’s hard to list everything for praise. I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone that’s interested in improving their striking skills to purchase your Dvd and can only say it will be a purchase they will never regret. Anyone purchasing your Dvd will not only gain the skills on the Dvd, they will learn keys to help them understand and improve whatever system they might currently be training in.
Am really looking forward to the next in your series.
Regards
Peter"

The one inch punch or the one inch push
Here is an example of a Jeet kune do one inch punch its unsupported and breaking the kinetic chain in several places, this reduces the concussiveness of the strike and is often portrayed as little more than a push, its also completely different to the style you see Bruce Lee using in his clips
when you land a close range punch the the kinetic postion its much more concussive with more drive to knock you off balance with the impact rahtar than pushing you after the fact as well as hurting much more.As you can see in this clip hereMonday, 14 July 2014
Wow Bruce Lee WAS using a Kinetic punch!
Bruce lee and the kinetic punch
Since I started punching I been studying and loved Bruce lee,who hasn't,and this is the way I've always seen him, gifted with speed but trained like no other for technique, obsessive training will bring another level. but nobodies super human and if there hitting harder than anyone else then threes a reason. Their doing something slightly different bio mechanically, this brings me to the first clip of Bruce on the heavy bag this clip that confirmed my thoughts, it shows students (Ted Wong training on the bag) Ted is using an unsupported classic boxing punch like swinging a hammer.but Bruce is using a kinetic punch driving in like a jack hammer, you can see how the drive/bend into the bag is deeper when Bruce hits, this sort of drive you only get with a kinetic punch hes also using a deep snapping shockwave on the end, Bruces punch is a sort of mix of western boxing and karate.
now particularly this clip here and the 6inch punch, you simply cant get that much drive or chest compression with a standard boxing punch.swinging in like a hammer.Bruce is driving in like a jack hammer, completing the full kinetic chain. The punch hes demonstrating here cannot be thrown in modern boxing gloves because of the thumb position. So boxing gloves teach you a different punch than the one demonstrated by Bruce here.Again a perfect version of a deep snapping shockwave on the end of the punch to complete it
This brings me to my clip here explaining the difference in a supported kinetic punch and an unsupported (boxing style) punch. The kinetic punch is a significant step up in power.

Hers Bas Rutten throwing a very nice unsupported punch, notice how the elbow is much lower on the hooks

this clip shows you how to test your style to see what type of punch you throw.Do you hit like a hammer or Jack hammer,by the way its impossible to hit like a jackhammer in modern boxing gloves

Shockwaves and Thai kicking
heres a few different shockwaves on the end of kicks
First the light snapping shockwave,Because the post will not give it forces him to snap straight back.
Now the deep snapping shockwave, and again the same principles as the punching but this time this tree has a bit of give and is possible to sink deeper into the target and more body weight, notice how he adds the step for more power
this is done by either stepping in rotating the front foot or jumping into position with one movement like Bukaw
First the light snapping shockwave,Because the post will not give it forces him to snap straight back.

and how you can use the same principles to build power and torque in your hooks and how the dropping and lifting of your heels can increase close range power as well,I then go through some tips for close up striking and extreme close range hands on target hooks.following that is all about the breath and intent how to use them both hand in hand to significanlty increase your explosive power.
A little footwork next, how to get all of your bodyweight into the strike,by steping through with the hook. Then onto Shockwaves and the best suited for different angles to significantly improve the explosiveness of your hooks.a short talk about positons and training pad on the hand and I finish of explain the the two strongest figure of eight loops to throw repeated strikes.heres a clip of some of out training and testing of our palm hooks and palm heels using all the principles from the DVD

JKD power punching and mixed martial arts knuckle placment
Heres a very nice example of the light snapping shockwave on the end of a punch from JKD hes landing with the outside three knuckles, just like a boxer in boxing gloves and any UFC fighter
These are what I call an unsupported punch a bit like swinging a hammer, but the forearm isnt directly behind it,it breaks the kinetic chain at the end losing 40% of the power you could have when you line the punch up kinetically
part two Here http://powerpunchers.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/wow-bruce-lee-was-using-kinetic-punch.html
and heres UFC welterweight Champion johny hendricks on the heavy bag
and bas rutten here
These are what I call an unsupported punch a bit like swinging a hammer, but the forearm isnt directly behind it,it breaks the kinetic chain at the end losing 40% of the power you could have when you line the punch up kinetically
for the kinetic punch you should be landing here
the beauty of modern slow motion is you can see what I mean in some clips, like here not a kineitc punch in sight
part two Here http://powerpunchers.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/wow-bruce-lee-was-using-kinetic-punch.html
