BASIC RULES OF POWER KICKING FOR MMA RULE 1 THE STEP

                                                                  RULE ONE THE STEP
stepping in with the opposite foot rotated fully before the kicking leg leaves the ground

One reason to do this is to make sure your not spinning and twisting your knee with all your weight on it as your other leg throwing the kick you will lose power to the ground,if your foot jams or your on a surface that your foot doesnt spin on and your twisitng after the kicking leg leaves the ground you can tear your knee apart,and it akso causes problems though time.If your Stepping in and rotating the foot so that its in the direction your going to be after youve finished the kick,then theres no pressure or twist on the knee,Another reason is power because this also opens up the hips and creates more torque.done right its like the difference in a light shockwave compared to ripping shockwave with the kinetic punch.were you step in relation to your oponent usually about 45% also makes a difference,say if you were kicking the liver you may step in 6 inches deeper than a leg kick because.
